Opelika Bulldogs Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 3-2 loss to Auburn High School on Monday. Auburn High School scored on a groundout by Greene in the first inning and a single by Chizik in the second inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Auburn High School pitchers struck out 11, while Opelika Bulldogs Varsity sat down six.
Auburn High School got things started in the first inning when Greene grounded out, scoring one run.
Arnold toed the rubber for Auburn High School. He allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out ten.
Hoony Oh was on the hill for Opelika Bulldogs Varsity. He went two innings, allowing two runs on two hits. Will Ingram and Colten Dunson entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.
Latrell Gullatte, Jackson Craft, Dunson, and Jackson Harris each collected one hit to lead Opelika Bulldogs Varsity.
