Bulldogs News · Varsity Wrestling Dawgs Split at home

Tonight the Wrestling Dawgs hosted the Park Crossing Thunderbirds and the Central Red Devils in varsity action while the Middle School Dawgs wrestled the Central Red Devils Jr. High in Mainstreet Gym on our beautiful OHS campus.

In Varsity action, the Bulldogs started the night against the Thunderbirds and we were able to subdue the ‘Birds 48-24. Scoring points for the Dawgs was T’harra Brunson in the 126# class (win by pin),  Logan Sheridan (132# class) , Keon Brazier-138# class (win by pin), Landon Willis-145# weight class, 170# Chris Willett, 182# Ken Felder, 195# Ben Daughtry (win by pin) and Heavyweight James Dawson.

In the Finale, we fell to the Red Devils, 21-48. Although we didn’t win, there were bright spots. We fell behind Central 0-15 but 138# Keon Brazier picked up a pin to get us on the board. Keon’s pin made it 6-15. We then had to forfeit the next few weight classes that put is in the hole 6-30. 170# Chris Willett stopped the bleeding with a 1-0 victory that closed the score to 9-30. Ben “Big Bird” Daughtry and James Dawson both pinned their opponents from Central, but it was too little-too late for the Dawgs.

In Middle School action our OMS Wrestling Dawgs ran their record to 19-2 with  a 54-34 victory over the Jr. High from Phenix City. Picking up pins for the Middle School Dawgs were Brayden Wilson in the 119#class, Trace Gaither in the 125# class, and AJ in the 205# class.

We would like to thank the many fans on hand to scream and yell for the Dawgs. We would also like to thank the parent volunteers on hand-we couldn’t do it without you!!!!

Tomorrow and Saturday the Varsity Dawgs will be in Smiths Station for the Annual Smiths Invitational  Individual Tournament. We will start wrestling at 5:00pm Opelika time. Hope to see you there!!

Go Dawgs!!!
