Bulldogs News · Freshman Dawgs drop heartbreaker @ Central

The Freshman Dawgs traveled to Phenix City tonight with extinguishing the Freshman Red Devil fire on their minds. After a hard-fought, effort-filled, 40-minute battle, the Dawgs came up just short. Trailing 7-8 at the half, the Dawgs were not ready to throw in the towel. The second half saw the Dawgs drive  deep into the Devils’ lair, only to turn the football over, giving the Devils momentum. The Devils eventually scored the TD but their 2-point conversion failed leaving the score Dawgs 7-Central 14. Our next possession, we proceeded to drive down the field in a long-sustained drive in which Tremael Almacen found pay-dirt! We elected to go for 2 and were successful as Bryce Speakman hit George Meyers in the corner of the end-zone.  The Dawgs took the lead 15-14 with about 4 minutes left to play. The Devils were able to find the end zone on a 4th down and long play that was a dagger in the hearts to Bulldogs players and fans. Devils were successful on the ensuing 2 point play giving the Devils the lead 22-15. We had one last chance with just under two minutes but turned the ball over on downs. The Devils then knelt down to end the game and we watched the clock expire. Final- Dawgs 15- Central 22.

Our Dawgs will return home next Monday as we fear that there will be an attack by an Indian tribe from Wetumpka. The Dawgs will be ready to defend their turf. Kickoff is set for 5:30 Bulldogs Standard time right here in Bulldogs Stadium on the beautiful campus of Opelika High School.

See you then!! Go Dawgs!!!!!!
