Tonight the Freshman Bulldogs played host to the Benjamin Russell Freshman Wildcats in the friendly confines of Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs took the opening drive from their own 35-yard line and proceeded to drive 65 yards in 6 plays on a Kaden Cooper run. The point-after-touchdown failed. The Wildcats first drive was a 4 and out which gave the Freshman Dawgs a 2nd possession in the 1st quarter. On the Dawgs next possession, Jarius Goodman scored on a Bryce Speakman pass. The point-after-touchdown attempt by Tremael Almacen was good. The Dawgs defense again stood stout and forced a Ben Russell punt on their 2nd possession. The Dawgs 3rd possession led to a third Dawgs touchdown– a run by Jarius Goodman. Almacen would add a second PAT giving the Dawgs a 20-0 lead at the half.
The 2nd half saw the Bulldogs defense take the field first. 7 plays later Logan Sheridan picked off the Ben Russell QB’s pass as it bounced off the head of Markel Straghn. Although Logan took the pick to the house, the TD was nullified by a Dawgs penalty. No worries, though as the offense would once again strike pay dirt on a Kaiden Cooper run. Dawgs lead 27-0 after George Meyers kicks the PAT. The 4th quarter is the first time the Wildcats would reach the end zone. After two big runs and 50 yards gained, the BRHS QB hit a wide open receiver for a 15 yard TD strike. The Wildcats elected to go for two, but the attempt failed. The Dawgs would add one more TD in the 4th quarter on a Jarius Goodman run. George Meyers kicked the PAT and the Dawgs held the Wildcats scoreless the rest of the way. Final Score Bulldogs 34- Wildcats 6.
