Today the Wrestling Dawgs took the drive to Central High School in Phenix City to take part in the 17-team duals tournament. We were placed in Group 1 with the Central Red Devils, Northside-Columbus Patriots, Chattahoochee County Panthers, Jordan Red Jackets and the Enterprise Wildcats. The Wrestling Dawgs started the day against the Northside Patriots. Despite being short-handed (we were missing 4 wrestlers), we were able to pull off the 54-23 victory. In our second dual of the day, we faced off against Jordan. This one came down to the wire and a forfeit in one our weight classes cost us the match. We fell 39-42. Next up for the Dawgs was the Central Red Devils. We dropped this one 36-42 as forfeits once again hurt us. The next match up for the Wrestling Dawgs was the Enterprise Wildcats. We still were short-handed but took care of business, winning 54-24. In our finale, we sparred the Chattahoochee County Panthers and this one truly came down to the wire as the match ended 42-42. Therefore we had to resort to tiebreakers. we went far into the criteria, but since we had 6 pins and Chattahoochee had 5 pins, we were awarded a tiebreaker point giving the Dawgs the 43-42 victory. Overall as a team we finished 6th of 17 with a 3-2 record.
Top individual performances for the Dawgs today were:
- Junior 160# Zeak Jones (5-0; 30 points; 5 pins)
- Junior Heavyweight James Dawson (5-0; 30 points; 3 pins)
- Junior 195# Ben Daughtry (5-0; 29 points; 3 pins)
- Senior 182# Timmy Tolbert (5-0; 27 points; 3 pins)
- Senior 220# Bevin Williams (3-0; 16 points; 2 pins)

- Senior 220# Trint Vaughns (2-0; 12 points; 2 pins)
- Senior 170# Eli Schwenk (2-0; 12 points; 2 pins)
Although not undefeated on the day, Jackson Shoemaker, Jordan Clark, Tre’mir Rodgers, T’harra Brunson, and Ari Brogdon all scored points and wrestled hard to help the team today. For those Dawgs fans that made the trip, we’d like to thank you for your support.
Next action for the Wrestling Dawgs will be next Tuesday, Dec 4, as we travel to Smiths. Our JV/MS team will be there as well. Hope to see you then!
